Eating can relieve the symptoms of morning sickness. It may be better to eat small snacks often rather than two or three large meals.

When you feel a wave of nausea coming, sit down and bend over so your head is resting between your legs.

These foods may help with morning sickness:

  • Ginger - as tea, capsules or cookies
  • Toast
  • Fizzy water
  • Natural yogurt
  • Plain crackers, such as saltines
  • Fruit juice
  • Raw vegetables
  • Herbal tea - especially ginger, chamomile or peppermint
  • Glucose drinks
  • Candies

Tips to cope with heartburn during pregnancy include:

  • eating small meals
  • avoiding fatty foods
  • waiting two hours after eating before lying down
  • always sitting up straight
